Teaching English as a Foreign Language The Ministry of Education continues to increase the number of foreign English teachers in Korea each year. The government has set goals to increase Korean students¡¯ proficiency, fluency and understanding of the English language. For this reason they have set specific guidelines and standards in place that foreign English teachers must met before they are allowed to teach English in Korea. In order to teach English as a foreign language in Korea teachers must have a minimum of a four-year college or university degree from an accredited school in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or South Africa, from where he or she must also be a citizen. While native English speakers are preferred, if you speak English clearly and fluently, you are just as welcome to apply. |
